Pumice is an ideal aggregate to use in light concrete production.

- It is not hazardous due to non-toxic. As an example, it is used in the paint industry because of its resistance to combustion and stain. It is also effective in obtaining paint materials with low density as a filler. The rubber and plastic industry also utilizes pumice as a functional filler.

Thanks to its advantages, pumice is an essential raw material to be included in the almost all of the building elements. Pumice concrete is used in the construction industry (roads, bridges, precast concrete products, concrete, low slope roofing and decorative concretes) due to its advantages such as durability and longevity.
- Lightness: It is one of the most important advantages of pumice concrete. Pumice concrete is one third lighter than a concrete made of sand and gravel. Considering the steel used in building construction, lightness is a very important detail for reducing dead load.
- Insulation: Low thermal conductivity in pumice concrete provides less heat loss. Furthermore, water vapor condensation(moisture) on the walls and ceilings where it is used is absent or negligible. One of the most economical ways of obtaining insulated concrete blocks is to benefit from these opportunities of pumice concrete.
- Fire resistance: Pumice concrete has a higher fire resistance than standard concrete. It is very durable even in direct contact with flame.
- Machinability: Pumice concrete is suitable for drilling, nailing and cutting. So, preserving its integrity in these processes accelerates the construction duration.
- Weather resistance: Pumice concrete is not affected by both very high and very low temperatures. Therefore, it has superior resistance to harsh weather conditions. This is one of the main reasons why pumice is preferred. In addition, it provides the opportunity to produce concrete with high fracture toughness against natural disasters such as earthquakes and storms.
- Moisture resistance: Pumice provides reduced permeability and superior resistance to moisture thanks to its desorption
Volcanic accumulations are collected, crushed and transported to the refining plant. Then, the crushed pumice is broken down into various particle sizes from half-inch aggregate to ultra-fine levels in accordance with industrial standards. The energy spent in the refining process is very low. This makes the pumice stone more special and preferrable in the manufacture in terms of budget.
